People

Planning Support and Reporting Functionality

Process

Systems

Consolidation of all reporting methods, both internal and external

Success Factors

The main areas benefiting as part of the support given were as follows:

  1. Consistent production of all reporting data / metrics
  2. Greater Management and Stakeholder confidence in current progress and forecasting projections
  3. Establishment of stronger links between Client & Third Party Contractors reporting teams
  4. Quickly considered a key member of the embedded team with the Client infrastructure

Lessons Learned

A lack of a co-ordinated approach to the Project Controls function, was having a detrimental affect on the Project Teams. Having key personnel engaged as early as possible, gave greater Team focus on the deliverables, and ongoing benefits to the project

When engaging Third Party Contractors, it was imperative to their buy-in as soon as they were engaged, in order to establish the requirements for reporting, deadlines for data transfer, and understanding of the process behind it

Any software compatibility issues with external contacts were addressed, and quickly aligned to assist in the transfer of information and progress reporting to the Client
